Just came back from a snowboarding trip yesterday and I am sofa king sore! x( Despite that, it was well worth it. Haha. Alright so, I've been snowboarding once or twice a season for about 4 years now. I can't say that I'm "Shaun White" smooth, but I can hold down. The place I went to had 3 different ski lifts: Novice, Beginner/Intermediate, Advanced/Expert. I usually go on the beginner/intermediate course just for cruising and occasionally, grind a box or two. Well, at one point, I was feeling overly confident and decided to go on the advanced/expert course. Once I got on the ski lift, I thought to myself, "Alright, pretty excited...when am I gonna reach the peak of the slope." As I got higher and higher, it got even more colder and much more tense (the snow flakes kept hitting my face at a surprising speed!). Even still, I kept smiling, but not because of the anticipation, but because my face was rock solid frozen and I couldn't move a damn muscle. lol.
Finally, I reached the top and as I turned the corner to get ready to cruise down, it was sofa king steep! I knew if I went straight on, I wouldn't be able to handle it, even if I S-curved it. The snow surface on the advanced/expert course was way different than what I was used to and was a lot more harsh and unstable. But then I sucked it up and said "Fcuk this crap, man," and just table topped it down (basically just gliding down, full body forward, at a controlled rate of speed). Yet another surprise, even as I table topped it, it's as if I was going 30 mph because of it's steep angle. So there I am, table topping away for about 50 yards (For you guys who snowboard, you'll know that it takes a lot outta your legs, especially considering the angle of the slope), until I saw the ramp. I knew I had to pick up some speed and if I kept going at the rate that I was at, I'd be 3 times more sore than I already am! >(~ I turned my board, knees bent, ducked my head, charged at that sucker, then "Boom!" I landed! But not too long after I reached the ground, I hit a snag and I tumbled like Tom Cr-uise-azy for what felt like 20 yards! I was lying there for a bit, but eventually, I reached the bottom, body bruised, head up high, and a smirk on my face... And not because my face was frozen, but because I stuck it all the way through. Even though it wasn't the smoothest run, I gave it my best shot without looking back and kept going.
